GitHub recently announced that developers utilized an impressive 11.5 billion minutes of GitHub Actions for open source projects in 2025, marking a significant 35% increase year-over-year. This surge in usage necessitated a major overhaul of the platform's architecture to handle the growth effectively, transitioning from an outdated system to a modern backend that now supports 71 million jobs per day. This upgrade not only enhances performance and scalability but also allows enterprises to execute up to seven times more jobs per minute than before, greatly improving reliability and user experience. The re-architecture has paved the way for several key feature enhancements that respond directly to community requests.
