Former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke has joined security startup Apiiro as a strategic advisor, bringing his product and platform experience back into the developer tooling arena months after leaving GitHub. Apiiro monitors and secures applications and codebases with an emphasis on AI-generated code; Dohmke will help the company build protections that inject organizational context and policy into AI coding workflows. Apiiro already integrates with companies’ code-management systems to surface and automatically remediate risky code patterns, and has raised more than $100 million from investors including General Catalyst, Greylock, and Kleiner Perkins. For the AI/ML community this appointment highlights a growing focus on governance for code produced by multiple AI agents that often lack awareness of corporate rules and security guardrails. Technically, Apiiro’s approach aims to bind policy metadata and CI/CD context to code-generation tools so vulnerabilities can be detected and fixed before they reach production—reducing developer friction while tightening the software supply chain.
