Sunsetting Supermaven (supermaven.com)

Supermaven is being sunset after its acquisition a year ago. Today the team is issuing prorated refunds to existing subscribers for any remaining time and will continue to provide free autocomplete inference for current customers (including Neovim and JetBrains users) “for the foreseeable future.” The company has folded Supermaven’s core features into Cursor Tab and is advising VS Code users to migrate to Cursor, where an upgraded autocomplete model offers significant quality improvements. Practically, this means code-completion/inference capability will remain available to legacy users, but the newer “agent conversations” feature—rarely used—will be discontinued. Users who relied on agentic coding are encouraged to run their preferred frontier model inside Cursor going forward. For the AI/ML community this represents consolidation of specialized editor integrations into a single, improved completion stack (less fragmentation), immediate customer protections via refunds and free inference, and a shift toward hosting higher-level agent workflows within Cursor’s ecosystem rather than in Supermaven itself.
