New AWS research finds enterprises doubling down on tech: 93% plan to raise overall IT spend, 97% will boost cloud budgets and 90% will increase cybersecurity investment. Cloud adoption is accelerating—59% of apps are already cloud-based and that’s expected to hit 75% within a year—and 81% of respondents say public cloud exceeds their internal capabilities. Yet sentiment is mixed: 56% view public cloud as better for security and 51% for compliance, while four in five firms experienced at least one data breach last year (affecting on‑premise and public cloud nearly equally), indicating operational practices—not just environment choice—drive much of the risk. The survey exposes clear friction points for AI/ML and cloud teams: only 23% see AI as a security ally (e.g., for automated detection), while 39% flag compliance and security frameworks as top risks over the next three years. Integration with legacy systems (38%), cost (33%), digital sovereignty (29%) and skills shortages (25%) remain adoption barriers. For the AI/ML community this underscores priorities: robust MLOps with end‑to‑end data governance, model monitoring, privacy-preserving pipelines, and tighter cloud-native security controls and transparency from providers to address shared‑responsibility gaps as workloads and ML services move en masse to the cloud.
