Quora’s Poe app has added group chat support worldwide, letting up to 200 people converse and collaboratively use more than 200 AI models — spanning text, image, video and audio generators — inside a single thread. Users can launch groups from poe.com and keep chat history synced in real time across devices. Poe’s rollout (built over six months) includes first- and third-party models like Claude 4.5 Sonnet, GPT-5.1, Gemini 2.5, o3 Deep Research, Eleven Labs v3/Music, Sora 2 Pro and many creator-made bots, and allows anyone to build and share custom bots for group use. Quora highlights collaboration scenarios such as trip planning, image mood-boarding, trivia games or team brainstorming, and will iterate on the feature from user feedback. For the AI/ML community the release signals a shift from one-to-one model interactions toward multi-user, multimodal orchestration inside a single conversational state. Technically this raises interesting challenges and opportunities around context management, model routing and composition (switching between text, image, audio and specialized research models), real-time synchronization, and access/control of custom bots. It also intensifies competition with ChatGPT’s group chat pilot and surfaces operational concerns — moderation, privacy and governance — as group-mediated AI becomes a mainstream interaction pattern.
