Your favorite Microsoft 365 apps are getting a load more Copilot AI Agents - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint all get a boost (www.techradar.com)

At Microsoft Ignite 2025, Microsoft announced a broad rollout of Copilot-powered AI Agents across Microsoft 365 — notably Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook — designed to create, edit and manage content via prompts entered into Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. Agents will ask follow-up questions to tailor outputs and then hand off results directly into the target app. Excel agents can convert data into charts, summaries and insights using built-in formulas and logic and now pull external data via integrated web search. Word agents consolidate complex information into well-structured documents, and PowerPoint agents build and update decks using company-branded templates with slide creation, text rewriting, table styling, image insertion and layout rearrangement. The update also expands Agent Mode (previously in Excel/Word) to PowerPoint and adds enterprise-focused features: Word can leverage Work IQ to auto-select relevant files, emails and meetings for context; Excel users can choose reasoning models from Anthropic or OpenAI; and Outlook’s Copilot gains scheduling automation (finding times, booking rooms, drafting agendas, resolving conflicts with user-set flexibility rules) plus mobile voice commands for summarizing emails, drafting replies and inbox management. Early access is available via the Frontier program for licensed Microsoft 365 Copilot customers, with broader subscriber rollouts coming soon — a push that strengthens embedded AI workflows, model choice and contextual source selection for enterprise productivity.
