Open Source project to build browser plugins to make every site agentic (vuser.org)

A new open-source effort called Explore ProtocolVUSER aims to make every website “agentic” by providing a frontend protocol and browser plugins that let AI agents perform virtual user actions on behalf of people. Backed by a coalition of publishers, users, and AI developers, the project introduces a Browser MCP (Model Context Protocol) that tracks open tab state, content structure, and available on-site tools so agents can reliably call site-specific functions. Blockchain layers are proposed for handling value exchanges—payments, permissions, and secure messaging—so agents can autonomously complete transactions while users focus on higher-priority tasks. For the AI/ML community this standardization matters: it replaces brittle scraping or UI-hacking with a structured interface for agent-driven workflows, enabling more robust product-building and greater platform utilization (automated booking, shopping, ride hailing, etc.). Technically, the MCP+toolset model reduces ambiguity about context and tool availability, while blockchain integration provides auditable settlement. However, the design also surfaces critical risks—massive preference and transaction data collection, opaque agent decision-making, prompt-injection/data-poisoning attacks, and the permanence of leaked data on-chain—so the project foregrounds security, privacy, and transparency as core challenges to be solved.
