Jellify – a FOSS music player for Jellyfin (github.com)

Jellify is a new free and open-source plugin for the Jellyfin media server that brings "sonic analysis–level" features to your music collection by integrating Essentia, the well-known open-source audio analysis library. Developed by a volunteer team, Jellify aims to enrich Jellyfin's music experience with automated audio analysis that can power richer metadata, genre/tempo/key detection, waveform data, similarity/recommendation signals, and other features that depend on low‑level audio descriptors. This matters to the AI/ML and self‑hosted media communities because it enables advanced audio-aware features without relying on proprietary cloud services: developers and researchers can use server-side extracted descriptors for better search, playlists, recommendation models, or to generate datasets for ML experiments. The project is donation‑run (GitHub Sponsors / Patreon) and uses funding to cover operational fees such as Apple Developer licenses. As an open plugin leveraging Essentia, Jellify provides a practical, privacy-preserving route for hobbyists and practitioners to add sophisticated audio analysis to a self-hosted stack and to experiment with audio ML workflows on real personal music libraries.
