NotebookLM can now test your knowledge with flashcards and quizzes (www.engadget.com)

Google’s NotebookLM has added built-in flashcard and quiz generation, letting users create personalized study sets by choosing difficulty, number of questions/cards, and the exact sources to draw from via the Studio tab. The feature turns NotebookLM into an interactive study assistant: users can ground prompts in their own documents (a retrieval-augmented approach), tailor practice to their needs, and quickly produce focused learning materials without manual curation. The update also brings major model-backed improvements on mobile thanks to Google’s latest Gemini models: a context window roughly four times larger, conversation memory about six times longer, and an overall chat-quality improvement of roughly 50%. Together, those changes mean NotebookLM can hold more document context, maintain coherence across longer study sessions, and deliver more consistent, personalized tutoring.
