JetBrains today opened Early Access for Matter, a cloud-based AI development companion aimed at product teams working on web projects. Matter connects to your GitHub repo, spins up an isolated environment for safe experimentation, and uses an AI agent to implement changes from natural-language prompts (e.g., “Make this a single-page checkout”). Teams get instant live previews, real-time collaboration and shareable demos, and can create GitHub pull requests or issue drafts (with code and documentation) directly from the interface — all without writing code themselves. For AI/ML and product engineering teams this bridges the gap between solo-oriented no-code builders and production-grade, team-based development. It shifts routine UI iteration and prototyping to PMs and designers, tightens feedback loops, and lets engineers concentrate on architecture, performance and complex logic while still retaining oversight via PR reviews. Important technical notes: Matter currently supports web-based projects only, runs in isolated cloud environments to protect production code, and produces code that teams should review and integrate into CI/CD. If it delivers safe, reviewable code at scale, Matter could materially accelerate validation cycles and change handoff workflows across multidisciplinary product teams.
