MariaDB and Exasol announced a strategic partnership to deliver MariaDB Exa (Powered by Exasol), a converged analytics option that embeds Exasol’s high-performance analytics engine into the MariaDB Enterprise Platform. The joint solution targets organizations running GenAI and large-scale analytics by allowing real-time analytical queries directly on operational data without shifting it to a separate system. MariaDB Exa is available immediately as an add-on to the MariaDB Enterprise Platform 2026 release, with cloud integration planned. Technically, MariaDB Exa is engineered for extreme scale and complex queries on multi‑terabyte to petabyte-class datasets. Combined with MariaDB MaxScale and a multi-node high-availability architecture, the tiered setup is claimed to return query results up to 20× faster than traditional OLTP databases and — per Exasol’s independent benchmarks — up to 20× faster than leading cloud competitors. The result is a converged platform optimized for real-time dashboards, AI model inference and data science workloads while preserving governance and cost controls.
