Benchmarks to compare Copilot adoption coming to Copilot Dashboard (techcommunity.microsoft.com)

Microsoft is rolling out Benchmarks in the Copilot Dashboard inside Viva Insights, letting organizations compare Copilot adoption both internally across cohorts (by job function, region and manager type) and externally against similar companies. The dashboard surfaces metrics such as percentage of active Copilot users, adoption by app, and returning-user percentage, and offers comparisons to top 10% and top 25% performers among “companies like yours” as well as overall top-percentile benchmarks. Benchmarks are in private preview now with a wider rollout planned later this month. Technically, internal cohort benchmarks compute expected values by constructing a weighted-average based on role composition (Job function, Region, Manager attributes) so groups are compared against a like-for-like expectation. External benchmarks aggregate results from at least 20 companies and use randomized mathematical models and approximations to preserve privacy and prevent exposure of any single tenant’s data; industry and headquarters region metadata are drawn from values your company provides to Microsoft. For AI/ML teams and IT leaders, these features make it easier to spot adoption gaps, measure the effect of training or integrations, and prioritize tooling or change-management efforts—while Microsoft evaluates additional metrics based on feedback.
