UK start-up Books By People has launched “Organic Literature,” a voluntary certification and stamp to verify human-written books, partnering with independent presses including Galley Beggar, Bluemoose, Snowbooks, Scorpius and Bedford Square. The scheme permits only limited AI use (e.g., formatting or idea-generation), requires publishers to commit to standards, and uses annual spot checks to qualify titles; fees scale with the number of books produced. The first certified release will be Telenovela by Gonzalo C Garcia (Galley Beggar) this November, and the start-up plans to expand internationally in 2026.
