Apple unveiled the new iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip, pushing on-device performance and AI capabilities. The M5 brings a next‑generation 10‑core GPU, powerful new Neural Accelerators, multithreaded CPU performance and faster memory—hardware Apple says will dramatically speed LLM token generation, generative imagery and other AI-heavy workloads. iPadOS 26 complements the silicon with a reimagined windowing system, expanded multitasking (split into thirds/quarters), Background Tasks and Live Activities to manage more concurrent, intensive workflows. Creators also get pro‑level capture and editing: 4K ProRes, a LiDAR scanner, studio mics, four speakers, and color‑accurate Ultra Retina XDR tandem OLED with ProMotion and Reference Mode. Apple Intelligence is baked into the experience, offering on‑device features (Siri, ChatGPT integration, Image Playground, intelligent Shortcuts and one‑tap photo Clean Up) while emphasizing privacy through on‑device processing and a new Private Cloud Compute option that runs larger, server‑based models on Apple silicon to handle more complex requests without compromising personal data.
