Dash 8 for macOS adds MCP (Model Context Protocol) support, letting AI assistants like Anthropic’s Claude directly access your local documentation docsets so they can provide contextual, retrieval-augmented help with your code. Dash also exposes a new HTTP API that lets tools programmatically list and search installed docsets and receive JSON results, enabling tighter IDE and automation integrations. MCP can be enabled in Settings > Integration, and the feature is free for existing Dash subscribers. Beyond AI integration, Dash 8 includes several practical tweaks: the Alfred workflow’s search engine now runs in the background for more consistent results, the results dropdown is resizable, automatic docset updates are disabled when low data mode is on, and clipboard permission handling has been improved.
