Apple is moving towards making its new Siri AI widely available by significantly reducing the waitlist requirement. In a recent blog update, the company announced that eligible users who opt-in will have the AI feature automatically downloaded, a marked change from the previous system where users had to join a waitlist that could last from hours to days. This transition indicates Apple's increasing readiness to deploy its advanced AI capabilities for Siri, although waitlists will still be implemented during periods of high demand. The revamped Siri AI, introduced at the June Worldwide Developers Conference, enhances its functionality by leveraging user context across various applications like iMessage, Calendar, Mail, and Photos. This allows Siri to perform tasks such as quickly finding flight information or identifying products on the screen. Apple's CEO John Ternus emphasized that this upgraded Siri, which features an independent app and is built on a modern architecture, positions the company to expand its AI capabilities significantly in the future. Currently in beta, the new Siri AI is limited to users with Apple Intelligence-capable devices, specifically requiring an iPhone 15 Pro or later.
