Request for Immediate Release of Yang–Mills AI Output (agmai.org)

The Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence (AGMAI) has publicly urged OpenAI to release its AI-generated outputs related to the Yang–Mills theory, which is significant not only for physics but also for advanced mathematical inquiries. The Yang–Mills theory is part of a Millennium Prize problem, making its results crucial for both scientific advancement and mathematical understanding. The group argues that immediate access to these outputs would facilitate collaboration and accelerate the exploration of new mathematical concepts, highlighting the importance of open access in the academic community. In tandem, AGMAI has raised concerns about previous approaches where select mathematicians were designated to receive early access to AI-generated mathematical outputs. Such a practice has been deemed problematic due to potential biases, unequal access, and the risk of limiting community engagement. AGMAI advocates for a more inclusive release strategy that empowers the entire mathematical community by promoting organic understanding and collaboration, while also establishing guidelines for responsible dissemination of AI-generated research. This approach aims to foster an environment where mathematicians can contribute freely and innovate beyond the capabilities of current AI tools.
