Expanding our global operations to India with our second Asia Pacific office (www.anthropic.com)

Anthropic announced it will open an office in Bengaluru in early 2026 as its second Asia Pacific hub (after an upcoming Tokyo office). CEO and co‑founder Dario Amodei is visiting India to meet officials and partners, and the move is framed as a strategic commitment to India’s large technical talent pool, growing AI adoption, and government interest in equitable AI deployment. The Bengaluru office will focus on partnerships with enterprises, nonprofits and startups and prioritize social‑impact use cases in education, healthcare and agriculture while supporting India’s startup and IT services ecosystem. Technically, the expansion responds to strong local demand for Anthropic’s Claude: India is the second‑largest market for Claude globally, with particularly heavy use for programming and technical tasks (mobile UI, web app debugging), and enterprise customers like CRED using Claude for critical coding. Claude Code adoption reportedly grew over 10x in the three months after its May launch. Anthropic plans to strengthen Claude’s Indic language capabilities — enhanced performance in Hindi plus about a dozen languages (Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, etc.) — to boost public‑sector adoption, developer productivity, and trustworthy, scalable AI deployments across India.
