Turning My PS3 into a Moonlight Streaming Host, and Building with LLMs (kenmyers.io)

A tech enthusiast has successfully transformed a PlayStation 3 (PS3) into a remote gaming host, utilizing it for streaming and game emulation via a mini-PC running custom software. By leveraging the Sunshine game-streaming server and Moonlight client, the PS3 is now playable remotely, eliminating the need for input switching between devices. The innovative setup employs a Magewell Pro Capture card for low-latency HDMI capture and a Raspberry Pi Pico to emulate USB controllers, with custom modifications to ensure smooth operation, including handling HDCP encryption limitations. Testing has shown a median input-to-frame latency of 39.9 ms, making it indistinguishable from a direct console connection.
