A recent report from Object First reveals a troubling increase in workplace stress related to IT security, with 91% of employees expressing discomfort over security risks—a significant rise of 7% from the previous year. While 90% acknowledge that AI tools have bolstered their productivity, 70% cite the escalating threat of AI-driven cyberattacks as a major source of anxiety. Alarmingly, only 24% feel their organizations are adequately prepared to tackle these security threats, exacerbating employees' concerns. The report highlights that stress isn't solely generated by the fear of cyberattacks, which 50% of workers identify as a concern; heavy workloads and understaffing are equally culpable. Notably, 74% of respondents struggle with recovery tools that require specialized security knowledge, leaving many feeling helpless during incidents. The cumulative effect of such stressors has led 78% of employees to report diminished job performance, with 39% contemplating resignation. Company CEO David Bennett underscores that while technology is vital for cyber resilience, the expertise of personnel tasked with data protection and recovery is equally crucial.
