A new feature from Scite allows researchers to track how often AI tools are reading their papers, providing a unique insight into the engagement of AI assistants with academic literature. Researchers can input their names or paper DOIs to see which AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Claude, have interacted with their work, along with metrics detailing the frequency and preferences of AI citations. Currently, over 19.4 million AI reads across 8.6 million papers have been recorded from a wide array of 22,000 publishers, demonstrating a significant level of engagement with academic content. This initiative is significant for the AI/ML community as it bridges the gap between academia and AI technology, enhancing the visibility of scholarly work and potentially influencing research directions. By enabling researchers to see which papers are being drawn upon by AI tools, it fosters greater awareness of how artificial intelligence is reshaping the dissemination and accessibility of knowledge.
