I built an AI assistant that keeps working after the chat ends (shotah.github.io)

A new AI assistant, referred to as the "crane," has been developed to provide contextually aware interactions that persist even after the chat session ends. Unlike conventional plugins that operate within existing frameworks like Claude Code or Copilot, this system is a standalone solution that maintains its own context and operational integrity. The accompanying architecture, known as ai-gantry, streamlines interactions with various AI models while utilizing a structured runtime and memory management system, enabling an independent workflow. This innovation holds significance for the AI/ML community as it challenges the conventional reliance on third-party platforms by offering a self-contained environment for AI interactions. The system allows for seamless integration with communication tools like Telegram, Discord, and Slack, while ensuring security with zero inbound ports. Key technical details include its static binary nature, ability to support multiple AI models, and an architecture that prioritizes autonomy without incurring the traditional costs of using external chat services. As a result, developers can create and deploy AI assistants quickly and efficiently, paving the way for more innovative applications in individual and organizational contexts.
