Soofi – Sovereign Open Source Foundation Models (www.soofi.info)

The Soofi consortium has unveiled Soofi S, the first model in a new open-source family of European AI foundation models, designed specifically for industrial applications. Focused on maintaining control, transparency, and efficiency, Soofi S tackles sectors such as technical documentation, code generation, and agent-based AI systems. This 30-billion parameter Mixture-of-Experts model has been trained on an impressive 27 trillion tokens, primarily utilizing German and English texts, and is set to be the backbone for future specialized models in dialogue and reasoning applications. This initiative is significant for the AI/ML community as it emphasizes the need for independent and trustworthy AI technology in Europe, addressing concerns over sovereignty and data privacy. Currently in practical testing phases with industry partners, Soofi is looking to expand its use cases to include more industrial processes.
