I built a voice AI chess companion for elderly players, in 3 languages (youai-chess.netlify.app)

A new AI-driven chess companion named "Arkadii" has been developed specifically for elderly players, offering a user-friendly voice interface in three languages: English, Russian, and German. This interactive tool is designed to provide support during gameplay, allowing users to engage in conversation with Arkadii, who offers tips on moves and strategies while adapting to different skill levels, ranging from easy (1200 ELO) to an "impossible" challenge (3000+ ELO). The assistant encourages a natural interaction style, with a hands-free feature that allows players to simply talk to receive guidance. This project is significant for the AI/ML community as it illustrates the potential for voice-activated AI to enhance cognitive engagement for seniors, making chess more accessible and enjoyable. Integrating natural language processing with game mechanics, Arkadii not only serves as an opponent but also as a mentor, promoting learning through play. This innovative approach could pave the way for more age-inclusive AI applications across various domains, demonstrating the transformative impact of machine learning in everyday activities.
