SlopGuard employs three primary detection strategies: it checks for image metadata for clear identification, utilizes Google’s SynthID invisible watermarking to signify AI generation, and incorporates a visual classifier model to analyze image pixels. While its accuracy may not match paid APIs and it operates with some limitations regarding compatibility with different watermarking systems, SlopGuard is a step forward in making AI detection tools more accessible to the public. Future iterations of the extension may take advantage of local GPUs for improved performance, indicating ongoing development and potential enhancements in its capabilities.
