European Commission Adopts OceanEye (eurocean.org)

On June 3, 2026, the European Commission officially adopted OceanEye, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing ocean observation and marine knowledge across Europe. This adoption is a significant milestone in executing the European Ocean Pact, which seeks to improve the sustainable management of Europe’s seas and oceans. OceanEye underscores the critical role of comprehensive ocean observation as a basis for marine research and evidence-driven policy, aiming to gather and analyze data to bolster ocean health, climate resilience, and maritime security.
