OpenAIRE, in collaboration with Alien Intelligence, has announced a 12-week AI Hackathon set to launch on June 2, 2026, and concluding with submissions due on August 20. This event aims to engage participants at various skill levels—ranging from researchers to developers—through four themed tracks, including "Explore and Narrate," "Build," "Analyse," and a "Wildcard" category that encourages unconventional approaches. Participants will utilize the OpenAIRE Graph API alongside Alien Intelligence’s Graph AI plugin, sparking innovation in open science. This hackathon is significant for the AI/ML community as it fosters collaboration and creativity, offering opportunities for participants to showcase their projects. Winners will receive valuable rewards such as Alien AI gateway credits, promotion from OpenAIRE, featured case studies, and a chance to participate in OSFAIR 2027, with the grand prize boasting 500 euros and a pilot partnership. The event emphasizes community involvement with a voting phase taking place from August 21-29, where peers can influence the selection of the top solutions.
