Nvidia Unveils RTX Spark, an Arm-Based CPU for Consumer PCs (au.pcmag.com)

Nvidia has officially launched its first Arm-based CPUs for consumer laptops and mini PCs, branded as RTX Spark, during the Computex keynote in Taiwan. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that this innovation aims to transform personal computing by integrating AI supercomputers into homes, envisioning a future where these devices run autonomous AI agents continuously. The RTX Spark laptops will be powered by the "N1X" processor, developed in collaboration with MediaTek, and manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 3-nanometer process. The significance of RTX Spark lies in its potential to disrupt the consumer PC market, particularly in gaming and content creation, while also enabling users to run large AI models with up to 120 billion parameters thanks to its unified memory support of up to 128GB LPDDR5X. The architecture combines a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU and a GPU based on the Blackwell design, which boasts 6,144 CUDA cores. With major PC manufacturers lined up for its launch this fall, Nvidia's entry into the Arm-based market is poised to challenge existing x86 dominance and cater to power users and AI enthusiasts. Pricing and performance details remain unannounced, but with high-end specifications, the RTX Spark series is expected to come at a premium.
