Researchers have developed an innovative CAPTCHA system called CogCAPTCHA30 that leverages cognitive psychology tasks to detect AI agents. Traditional CAPTCHAs have been undermined by advanced AI models, which can now easily solve visual tasks. However, the study reveals a crucial distinction: while AI can match human performance in completing CAPTCHAs, the processes they employ are fundamentally different. This new dimension of analysis, referred to as the Process Turing Test, evaluates not only the outputs produced by machines but how they arrive at those outputs, creating a more robust method for distinguishing between human and AI responses.
