EntityMap (entitymap.org)

EntityMap is a newly proposed open standard aimed at revolutionizing how websites convey structured knowledge to AI systems, retrieval pipelines, and language models. Unlike traditional sitemaps that guide crawlers to web pages, EntityMap uses the entitymap.json format to inform AI about what entities a site covers, their interconnections, and the evidence backing these relationships. This shift targets common limitations in current AI retrieval methods, which often fail to recognize entity relationships, overlook publisher identity, and treat similar concepts as distinct signals. By introducing a standardized, machine-readable format for entities, EntityMap enhances the way publishers can present their knowledge—allowing for clearer relationships among concepts and ensuring that publisher identity is retained in AI-generated content. The specification includes two files, one machine-readable and the other human-readable, to ensure broad accessibility.
