A recent study by Mitel reveals that a significant 71% of workers use non-approved communication tools for work-related tasks, highlighting a troubling disconnect between employees and their organizations regarding AI and technology adoption. Despite substantial investments in AI and communication infrastructure, over half of employees still report that these tools do not meet their needs, leading to frustration and the urge to resort to familiar, potentially insecure platforms. This situation poses risks such as data exposure and cybersecurity threats. The findings indicate that only 37% of workers feel very comfortable using AI tools in their daily tasks, while 70% believe their organizations fail to provide adequate support for effective AI utilization. Mitel's CMO, Eric Hanson, emphasizes that the challenge lies not in the technology itself but in its misalignment with real-world work scenarios. Addressing this "experience gap" is crucial for organizations to transform their AI investments into tangible benefits, ensuring tools are reliable, context-appropriate, and effective during critical moments in the workplace.
