A new framework, Agentize, has been introduced to bridge the gap between using AI tools and deriving systematic value from agentic coding in engineering teams. Observations indicated that while some developers actively use tools like Copilot or Claude, many remain skeptical, often due to an inadequately prepared codebase. Agentize provides two complementary maturity models: Agent Readiness measures how well a codebase supports agentic coding, while Agent Adoption assesses how deeply these practices are embedded in a team’s workflow. With 11 specific criteria evaluated across both models, teams can identify areas for improvement to leverage AI more effectively. Agentize also offers an automated assessment tool using Claude skills, allowing teams to evaluate their readiness and adoption levels without bias, and even create tailored pull requests to address deficiencies. For instance, if a project lacks sufficient tests, the tool can automatically generate the required test cases. This innovation is significant for the AI/ML community as it not only facilitates better integration of AI tools into development processes but also empowers teams to systematically enhance their codebases, unlocking the full potential of agentic engineering.
