Copilot Spaces Now GA (github.blog)

GitHub Copilot Spaces is now generally available, offering a project-scoped context layer that roots Copilot’s outputs in curated files, docs, pull requests, issues and repos. Instead of working from a disconnected prompt, Copilot in a Space can generate code, explain system design, and suggest fixes that conform to your team’s security patterns, API standards and coding preferences. You attach content directly from a repository (no copy/paste) and files stay in sync as the project evolves; custom instructions let teams tailor responses to specific workflows and standards. Spaces are collaborative and org-shareable, turning a Space into a living knowledge hub for onboarding, incident resolution, query sharing (SQL/KQL), telemetry schemas, auth best practices, and project planning. The GA release adds IDE access via the remote GitHub MCP server, so developers can use Spaces inside their editor. Spaces follow Copilot Chat’s billing model and are available to all Copilot users on github.com. Users can try Spaces at github.com/copilot/spaces and provide feedback through the Copilot Spaces community discussion or the inline feedback UI.
