Affinity gatekeeps MCP server; only available for Claude (www.affinity.studio)

Affinity has launched a beta version of its Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing users to automate tasks within the application through natural language commands, specifically utilizing the Claude AI assistant. This integration is significant as it streamlines workflows by enabling direct communication between AI and apps, thus eliminating the need for manual adjustments or extensive knowledge of Affinity's interface. Users can carry out various tasks, such as batch processing and layer management, simply by describing their needs in plain language. During this initial phase, the MCP server operates locally on devices using Affinity version April ’26 or later. Users can instruct Claude to execute complex tasks like enhancing multiple images simultaneously or renaming layers based on their content. The protocol also allows for the saving of completed workflows as reusable scripts, enhancing productivity and efficiency. Although some functionality may be limited in the beta, this development represents a substantial shift towards more intuitive and accessible AI-assisted design tools, paving the way for further advancements in task automation within creative software.
