Tolan has successfully integrated Claude, an AI coding assistant, into its iOS development workflow, leading to a significant increase in productivity and code quality. Over the past six months, Claude has contributed more to the iOS codebase than any human engineer, bridging gaps in Swift’s training data and standardizing older code templates. This was accomplished through a shift to agentic development, utilizing advanced tools like subagents and Claude Skills. By automating various development tasks and improving the documentation process, Claude became an effective collaborator, reducing runtime errors by 54% and increasing the crash-free user rate to 99.9%.
