WordPress.com has unveiled a new AI Assistant designed to enhance website creation through natural language prompts. As noted by Head of AI Ronnie Burt, the AI Assistant can handle various tasks, including adjusting layouts, modifying styles, and generating or translating text, all based on user instructions that can be intentionally vague, such as "Make this section feel more modern and spacious." Significantly, the WordPress AI Assistant also incorporates Google's Nano Banana technology for image generation and editing directly within the media library, further streamlining the creative process for users without needing external tools. Additionally, it facilitates collaboration among colleagues by suggesting edits and fact-checking within the new block notes editor introduced with WordPress 6.9. Currently, the AI Assistant is available for all users, although it requires activation in the settings.
