Gmail is entering the Gemini Era (blog.google)

Gmail has announced the launch of several AI-driven features as it transitions into what's being dubbed the "Gemini era." Introduced are AI Overviews, which provide concise summaries of lengthy email threads, allowing users to access key information without sifting through multiple replies. In addition, users can now ask questions in natural language—such as inquiring about past quotes for home renovations—and receive instant, synthesized responses powered by Gemini’s advanced reasoning capabilities. These features are initially available at no cost to all Gmail users, while Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers gain access to enhanced functionalities. Alongside AI Overviews, Gmail introduces Help Me Write for drafting and polishing emails and Suggested Replies for one-click responses tailored to the user’s conversation style. The new AI Inbox feature intelligently filters emails to highlight critical items, ensuring users focus on what truly matters. These updates signify a major step forward in using AI to enhance productivity and user experience in Gmail, leveraging Gemini 3 to streamline email management while prioritizing user privacy. The rollout begins today in the U.S., with plans for expansion to additional languages and regions in the coming months.
