Google is enhancing Gmail with a range of new Gemini AI features, starting with users in the United States, some of which are already known to Google Workspace users. Key offerings include AI Overviews, which allows users to ask natural language questions about their emails, such as retrieving specific information from past correspondence. This feature, along with the ability to summarize mail threads, aims to streamline user experience but requires a subscription for full access. Proofread, a service similar to Grammarly, will enhance grammatical accuracy and clarity for premium users, while the AI Inbox will prioritize important communications and tasks based on user interactions. On the free side, all Gmail users will soon have access to Help Me Write, which generates email drafts from prompts, and Suggested Replies, a refined version of Smart Replies that tailors responses to individual writing styles.
