Blob Opera has unveiled its Community Edition, a machine learning experiment co-developed by David Li and Google Arts and Culture, now enhanced by contributors addyosmani and yell0wsuit. This version allows users to engage in interactive opera singing by manipulating animated blobs that embody four opera voices—tenor, bass, mezzo-soprano, and soprano—trained using 16 hours of recorded performances. The underlying technology utilizes a Convolutional Neural Network to replicate the nuances of opera singing, enabling users to create harmonies and melodies in real-time without any vocal training.
